About Us

Located in South Central Pennsylvania, just 20 miles east of Harrisburg, our 22,000 square foot facility is located in Mount Holly Springs. The company separates itself from other shops with its strong background in electro/mechanical engineering experience. Using this experience and knowledge, we happily work with our customers, making recommendations on how they can improve their package design to give them the best functionality and cost.

The company was started by Chuck and Maryann Skovira in the garage and basement of their home. Due to their growing reputation for quick service, quality products, and great service, they grew out of this and built a 4000 square foot barn like building in their back yard. Occupying this for only four years, they were able to purchase the current building and have plenty of room for growth and expansion.

The business was started in 1998 and incorporated in 1999. Initially in the business, SFM designed and produced many different specialized machines and fixtures to support the electronics, lawn and garden, and furniture industries. Although, enjoying this type work, it was decided that the future would be to move into low cost volume manufacturing. The first Haas CNC machine center was purchased, followed by four more and a Citizen screw machine. As the local crystal companies were going out of business, SFM also purchased much of their machine shop capabilities, filling the shop with support equipment at low cost. It has been SFM philosophy to maintain a low over head in order to be competitive and offer their customers the best possible price.

SFM believes that offering the best possible service and customer relationship is important to their success. SFM strives to help the customer feel comfortable up front, will do what it takes to make the customer feel comfortable, and help the customer get what they want at a good price with top quality and quick response.

Our recent addition to the prototype-to-production package is the ability to model the customers design into Solid Works 3D. If the customer does not have the engineering CAD tools, then SFM can help. By doing the design, we can incorporate our years of knowledge of machining to provide the customer with the best design for both function and ease of manufacturing .
