Laser Cutting

SFM offers laser cutting of various non-metallic materials such as fish paper, various plastics, and fabrics. Cutting of these materials allows fully automatic precision without the concern of additional tooling cost and tooling wear. This is ideal for cutting thicker materials that take their wear on steel rule dies. Another advantage of laser cutting over steel rule die cutting is one of no contact and no crushing cutting. This allows for cleaner edges and a flatter surface that is otherwise created by the punching distortion of a steel rule die.  Fish Paper cutting is one of our most requested materials to cut.

Laser Engraving

Our on-site laser also gives SFM the capability of marking various products made in house as well as other requests. The in-house applications often involve marking anodized aluminum, powder coated surfaces, and high contrast marking on silver metal surfaces as seen in the examples.
